Digital rights and responsibilities is directly related to being a good digital citizen. Digital Rights and Responsibilities are the "privileges and freedom extended to all digital technology users, and the behavioral expectations that come with them" (Ribble & Bailey, 2007). In other words, people have the privilege and freedom to engage in technology use wherever they are. However, there are expectations that come with the privileges and freedom to use technology. People must act responsibly as they participate in the digital world.

Creative Commons is a non-profit organization that helps enable internet users to share the knowledge and creativity available. The Creative Commons (CC) license is one of the many licenses available that gives author approval for other people to use or share their private work that they have created. A copyright is a legal right of exclusive use and distribution to the creator of an original piece of work. You must source and credit the author or authors of the work you are using for your own personal purposes. If you do not reference the authors, you are copyrighting or plagiarizing.

After using the presentation tool called Prezi, it has assisted me become a better overall digital citizen. I have learned the meaning and basics of copyrights, creative commons and not to steal other people's work. Sourcing other people's work can help you become a better digital citizen.

Cheers,

Robert DeMelo
