VoiceThread

This week we discovered the tool of VoiceThread and how it can help my personal academic learning. “VoiceThread is an application that can be used right from your browser, which allows you to use different types of media to create an interactive slideshow” (Teacher Challenges 2016).  VoiceThread provides you with the opportunity to use pictures, videos, documents, and presentations.  Students can record video and audio that allows you to describe each slide in more detail.  By using this tool, you can use features of your laptop that you normally do not use such as webcam and built-in microphone. These features give a different verbal method of communicating personal comments and information surrounding a specific topic. I enjoy this feature due to the fact that most programs do not offer this option.

Based on my personal learning, I will be adding this tool to my Personal Learning Experience (PLE). This tool can become benefitical to my academic career by helping me make presentations with group partners and other people for the purpose of sharing. Since sharing information and comments on this program is the main purpose, I will be using tool for this exact purpose. I believe that VoiceThread will go into the Collaboration category of my PLE because of the collaboration features on this tool. Due to this tool, it is not necessary to meet up with group members in person. I have the possibility to add verbal comments making collaboration a lot simpler.  Check out this link , which talks about what VoiceThread is as well as this second link that discusses the responsibilities of going digital.

Cheers,

Robert DeMelo
