This week we explored the tools of podcasts or screencasts that can be embedded (or linked) into your blogger. These audio creation tools can be used to create a form of podcast. “The term podcast is often used to refer to any audio file that is embedded in a web page. However, technically a podcast is an episodic program delivered via the Internet using an XML protocol called RSS. Podcast episodes can be audio files, video files, documents, or any combination of the three” (Apple, 2013).
The podcasting tool that I used to create my Digital Portfolio is SoundCloud (click HERE to view website). Soundcloud is a social sound platform where anyone can listen to or create sounds and share them everywhere online. Through using SoundCloud, I learned how to create a sound clip by using my laptop. I was able to record myself talking through my webcam. My podcast presented information I learned about regarding Digital Privacy.
Digital Privacy is considered to be a huge part of digital citizenship rights and responsibilities. Digital privacy is “the protection of the information of private citizens who use digital mediums. However, when people speak about digital privacy, they often are referring to it in terms of its relation to Internet usage. Despite it being a popular and often incendiary issue, the obstacle of defining what digital privacy really is can prevent resolution” (WiseGeek, 2016). Digital privacy has to become a main focus in today’s digital world for safety to be fully present.
Cheers,
